What it is: Modern naturopathic medicine brings together the best of current scientific knowledge and several traditional and natural forms of treatment. Naturopathic medicine treats you as a whole person, and therefore gets to the underlying cause of disease, by taking into account your unique genetic, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects. It puts your health back into your hands by providing you with the knowledge and tools you need to feel better and prevent future illness. Your questions will always be answered, and your input welcomed.
The practitioners: Naturopathic Doctors are highly trained professionals who have completed a minimum of 7 years of post-secondary education, including a four-year degree in naturopathic medicine. For a more complete understanding of the training NDs receive, see HERE.
Naturopathic medicine is a recognized health profession in Ontario, and is regulated under the Regulated Health Professions Act. NDs have graduated from an accredited college, and are licensed and registered with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario.
Conditions treated: As primary health care providers, NDs can help you with any non-emergent acute or chronic condition. Common reasons for a visit include, but are certainly not limited to:
- Stress management
- Digestive concerns
- Hormonal imbalances
- Pain management
- Colds and flus
- Cardiovascular disease
